A Sprinter Hima Das Known As Golden Girl?

 

And we are going to know about one such champion, who is Hima Das. Because within just 19 days, to do five gold medals in the name of herself and the country, although it seems like just a dream. But it has been changed in reality, only because of Hima Das, 

an Indian athlete known as Golden Girl.

History Of Golden Girl Hima Das

 

  • Although she was born in a simple poor farmer there, but this girl born in this village had done an extraordinary feat. And this is the reason that there are discussions of Hima everywhere. But in this we will know the struggles of Hima Das and how she won by defeating all the difficulties, and became a motivation for everyone. Along with how a girl born in a simple village rose from the village and earned name and fame in different countries.





  • So it begins, on 9th January 2000, when Hima Das was born in Kandhulimari village, near Dhing, district of Assam state. His father is Ronjit Das, who is a very simple farmer, and his mother is Jonali Das, who herself helps in farming as well as takes care of her house. If we count of all the people in Hima's family, then it is sixteen. That is why due to low income and high expenses, his parents always had to face poverty. The same if seen about the education of Hima, then she did her early studies in the government school of the village itself.





  • But during her schooling, she was not fond of running but football, and she also used to play as a striker with the boys of the village. Whereas once on the advice of her school teacher, Hima Das started running and then she started doing very well as a sprint runner. 

 

 

Turning Point For Hima

 

  • Then in this same episode, Hima Das came to participate in a camp in Guwahati in 2017, and then she saw by Nipon Das, who worked as a coach. In that competition, he noticed that Hima Das was running the fastest even after wearing cheap shoes.





  • And then Nipon Das understood that Hima has the ability, so that she can increase the respect of India all over the world. Then after noticing all this, Nipon Das went to Hima's village, and requested her parents to let Hima go to Guwahati for training with him. Although seeing the expenses, her parents refused at prior, but when Nipon Das said that he would bear the expenses of Hima's living and food, then Hima's parents agreed.




  • After this, her stamina was commendable from the beginning during training, because in a game like football, she had played so many tournaments around the village that she did not have any problem to understand. Then first coach Nipon made Hima Das prepare for 200 meters training, but later he realized that Hima Das is perfect for 400 meters race. Since making all her preparations, Hima has represented India in the 4*400 rally of the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April 2018, but her team could only reach seventh place in the final.



How She Became Golden Girl?

 

  • Following which, she went on to become the first sprinter from India to win gold in any international track event, winning the final in the 400m race at the Tempere Finland World Under20 Championships 2018. With this, the story of her medals started. Because, later on, she also won two gold medals and one silver medal in the Asian Games to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018.




  • In this way she started illuminating India all over the world. After this, she proved herself again in the whole world by winning five gold medals within just nineteen days in 2019. She had achieved these medals in different tournaments held in Poland and The Czech Republic. Along with this, she was also honored with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in 2018.
